Our systems
are designed on the pool area and the wetted pool surround. The unit provides a
surplus of heated fresh air on a 'once through' basis. This slightly
pressurises the building which means all the surface areas a 'swept'
continually. Condensation cannot form and since the air change rate is around 8
changes per hour, humidity is controlled. the extract rate is designed to be
slightly less than the supply rate to achieve the positive pressure.
Outside
air passes into the unit and flows over a gas burner heating the air to around
40 deg C. There is not heat loss. The dilution rate to fresh air is approx 750
to 1 and complies with BS 5990 (Direct Gas Fired Appliances).
The
positive pressure means that little or no ducting is needed (most domestic and
hotel pools need no supply ducts). If air from the pool room leaks into
adjoining areas through doors etc, it is 'good' air. The air change rate
eliminates 'chlorine' or 'swimming pool' smells.
The system will heat
up a pool room in just a few minutes. The standard of comfort for bathers and
non-bathers alike is better than any other we know. The recommended air
temperature when the pool is not covered is about the same as the water, but it
is quite possible to run the air temperature lower than pool temperature.
The
system has a 'set back' condition, for when the pool is not in use. Most pools
have a heat retaining cover on during the set back period.
